Chakra (a word of Sanskrit origin, called Pali: chakka, Chinese: 轮, Tibetan: khorlo) means “wheel” or “cycle”. According to Hindu traditions and some belief systems, they are given this name because it is believed that the energy centers in human beings consist of energy fields rotating in the form of vortexes.
