How to calculate your birth day number

There is only one step, and one exception.

1. Take the day of the month. Ignore the month and the year entirely.
2. If it is 1 to 9, you are done.
3. If it is 10 to 31, add the two digits. The 26th becomes 2 + 6 = 8.
4. The exception: if you land on 11 or 22, stop there. Those are master numbers and are not reduced. The 29th gives 2 + 9 = 11, so a 29th is an 11, not a 2.

Three examples that catch people out:

• The 19th → 1 + 9 = 10 → 1 + 0 = 1. Two reduction steps, not one.
• The 29th → 2 + 9 = 11. Stop. It is not a 2.
• The 22nd → already 22. Do not add the digits.

How common is your birth day number?

Most pages on this subject describe the numbers and never mention how many people have them. That question has a real answer, because the input is a calendar: there are exactly 35,064 days between 1 January 1930 and 31 December 2025, and any of them can be counted.

Two things in that table are worth stopping on.

The 31st is the rarest day to be born on. Only seven months have a 31st, so it occurs seven times for every twelve occurrences of an ordinary day — 1.92% of dates against 3.29%. That is why birth day 4 sits at 8.49% while 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 all sit at 9.86%, despite each of them having three days: the 4’s third day is the 31st, and the 31st is short-changed by the calendar.

Birth day 2 is rarer than most of the single digits — only the 2nd and the 20th produce it, because the 29th is claimed by master 11. That one convention moves nearly a third of what would otherwise be 2s into the 11 column.

These two are constantly mixed up, and the difference is simply how much of the date you use.

The life path, by contrast, has two competing reduction methods that give different answers for a meaningful share of dates. 1. Work it out and check the reduction — especially if you were born on the 19th, 28th or 29th, where people routinely get it wrong.
2. Read the talent, not the character sketch. The birth day number claims one thing, not a personality.
3. Compare it with your life path. Matching is easy; clashing is informative.
4. Find last week’s example. If you cannot point to one occasion in the last seven days when the talent showed up, the reading is not about you.
